As a patient of 3 different depts. I found nephrology and haematology good to excellent. However urology is poor. All the staff, doctors and nurses quite indifferent with few exceptions.

I've had 2 serious operations done by mr Hasan I was in icu and ward 3 both times icu were brilliant with me wouldn't be here if I hadn't got in there after my first cancer op My surgeon mr s Hasan is a urologist surgeon but he did my urostomy and kidney removed and with help from a bowel dr during first op took my cancer they found by accident which saved me he's the most friendly man ever he's always hot time to talk even stopping in corridors to ask his your doing when passing he also made sure I was find on the ward everyday I was in both times and made sure I was being looked after ok I didn't need anything ,he came to see me before my ops to check I knew everything and didn't what to ask anything I also seen the aninetist both times before my op ,while I was in icu I had no Iain back on the ward I did and they help as I caouldnt use the machine to give myself lain meds so they dud it fir me with help from the pain nurses in the hospital the urostomy nurses are brilliant helping you to learn how to do your Stoma and helping afterwards with anything you need them for they even tried to feed me after my ops when I could eat but I didn't really want to eat but they tried every time ,only problem I had was nighttime meds when I was moved to a room at the bottom of the corrierdoorcwhich meant I was always last on a night time when I really needed them sometimes it was 12 midnight when I got them a few times it was 9 pm depending on which nurse was on each night one always left that part till last everytime while others changed everyday so who was last one night was first the next night which was fairer ,never really mattered if you had just had your op unless it was first night then your first but I've akways been in icu where you all get your meds same time or when you need them as you have your own nurse or in my first time I had 2 nurses with me day and night fir about 5 days then went onto 1 nurse before going back to ward 3 after 1 week in icu ,go to outpaients every week or two as gave a lot of doctors I see fir different things it's ok sometimes a wait sometimes not most are good only one not very helpful so far but only started seeing him this year so I'll give to time yet he might nit be as easy going as other doctors there and find it hard to tel, you stuff when you already have problems

My appointment with the renal team & the assessment in order to become a kidney donor has been efficient & thorough. Whilst an inpatient on ward 3 the staff have been attentive & caring- I can't fault them. I am so grateful for the care of Mr Rix & his team, Julie Wardle the transplant coordinator & Dr Kate Jones. Many thanks for helping my Dad feel so much better- the transplant was a success so far & am very grateful xxxxx

I've been a patient of this hospital most of my life, I moved from Cumbria when I was ill to be closer to this hospital because of the amazing care, I was on dialysis for 2 years in ward 31 fabulous staff all round. Then in transplant ward 38 where the staff are truly incredible there are no words to express how highly I value each and everyone that works there, they are like a really cool family who are always looking out for you they are without doubt the best in the business.

I feel that the care I received at the freeman hospital was inadequate, I understand that hospitals are busy places. I felt my experience here is more like a conveyor belt , shipped in and out. I don't feel like they know me as a person and is all about screen results, which is obviously important! But I feel knowing someone is also just as important, as this makes you then feel confident, comfortable and relaxed to talk to Drs, where If this isn't in place I feel less inclined and even if something was wrong more likely to cover it up or feel like I couldn't mention.
